What I Liked About Puberty Blues

-The kids look like kids (not adults)
-It feels likes the 70's
-Reminds me of high school
-There were Sunny Boys in the show
-Scenes are not rushed
-There is tension in the story
-You either hate or love the characters because of their personality, not because of a shitty portrayal
-Previews for the next episode didn't reveal too much

Well done Channel Ten, well done!
Having said that, stay tuned later in the season for my 'What I hate about Puberty Blues' post cause this could easily go down hill.

Underbelly: Badness / Not That Bad

I really wanted to hate Underbelly: Badness, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Granted it is the first episode. But damn, it was a good first episode. So good that I really want to watch the rest of the season in a whole sitting.
Great characters and acting by all, Jonathan LaPaglia character, Anthony 'Badness' Perish actually scared the shit out of me. By the way this guy can act and needs to be doing movies, he could be Australia's Liam Neeson if we as a nation let him.
Matt Nable as the hero cop 'Gary Jubelin' was also very good and just as tough, only thing was, every time he spoke I kept waiting for that scottish accent from Bikie Wars to come out.
Still, I'm not gonna make any final conclusion until the eighth and final episode, cause at end of the day a good show is about the whole season.

Well done Channel 9, shame about Big Brother huh?

Everybody Dance Now

I saw five minutes of Ten's Everybody Dance Now and that was enough for me to conclude...
WORST-SHOW-EVER!
And unfortunately us Australian's will have to put up with it until it ends cause Channel 10 would've paid a fortune for that Jason Delusional (whatever the fuck he's called) and ex Destiny Child's back up singer Kelly Rowland to be on the show and they have to get their moneys worth.

This show should not be on Sunday night, it should not have 2 so-called pop singers from another country judging (or whatever they do) and it should not be hosted by model that can't dance and looks uncomfortable standing.

Anyway, whatever... we're stuck with it so lets just bag the fuck out of it, just like these random tweeters!

Once again, another crap show!

Channel 7 Are Dicks

I just watched a promo for Up All Night that is premiering on Channel 7, Monday night and stars Will Arnett,  Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph.
Apparently Channel 7 don't think us Aussies know who Maya Rudolph is cause when they introduced the actors they referred to Maya Rudolph as "the lady from Bridesmaids". Dead serious, they used the word Lady!
Now come on Channel 7, are you fucking serious? The Lady from Bridesmaids? What an insult. She has a name, it's Maya Rudolph and she is one of the funniest improv actresses out there. If you felt that she is not well known to the Australian population why not introduce her instead? For example.. and this is me not even trying "...and introducing for the first time on the Australia TV, Maya Rudolph."
But the thing is, you wanted to mention the hit movie Bridesmaids hoping that people would think it was the other funny actress... Kristen Wigg.
Poor effort Channel Seven... poor effort!

Anyway Up All Night is on Monday Nights 9:30pm or until it changes time slots in 3 weeks.

Breaking Bad is Back

The first episode for Season 5 of Breaking Bad just aired on Sunday (US time) and is now available at your local torrent store...
Now the biggest dilemma is whether to watch each episode week to week or save them and watch them all at the end. Decisions decisions.

Oh and if you can't remember what happened last season, maybe this gif will remind you:

The Living Room

Holy shit.... I watched The Living Room last night.... what the fuck is this show?
Is this Channel Tens version of Better Homes and Garden? Cause if it is... way off.

Firstly I have to ask... where did this Miguel come form? His laugh annoyed the hell out of me. The batteries on my remote went flat cause every time he laughed, I had to turn the volume down.

What bothers me about this show is, why is there is a live audience when nothing happens in the studio?
If something actually happened in the studio, fair enough but everything is pre-recorded. The only thing the audience experienced was the bullshit banter between the host Amanda Keller and the three stooges Chris Brown, Miguel Maestre and Barry Du Bois (is that a French surname with Barry at the front?).
Actually there was one interactive thing the audience did get to do and that was to vote on a new and interesting product that the three stooges presented on a segment creatively named Hot Or Not. And even then Amanda Keller pretty much forced which way the audience should vote
Channel Ten advertise this show to be different and unique but the segments are like every other lifestyle show, except they're boooooring. Such as an Aussie singer showing off her home, catching yabbies from a farm dam and cooking them in cider, visiting a 'newly and and innovating australian designed house' and an ex MasterChef contestant that got kicked out the the day before, cooking a recipe... original!

Once again another shitty Australian TV show that will most likely get axed. I rather watch the Better Homes and Garden or re-runs of Burkes Backyard.

Enough of this show, I got to go... Happy Days is on.

Fashion Star

My favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning is to watch whatever is on TV and the past few weeks I've been watching NBC's Fashion Star on channel Eleven. It's an American reality show about fashion designers trying to sell their designs to 3 major fashion stores. It's a good show and a great concept thats quite interesting. I've watched the past few episodes and kind of getting into it, so you can understand my little burst of excitement this morning when I turned on the TV and the show was on.
That little bubble of excitement burst very quickly when I realised that it was a repeat and not only was it a repeat it's a "Special Encore Presentation." Meaning they are repeating all the episodes they've aired to date plus the one that was supposed to air, afterwards.
WTF? This show has been on air for no more that 4 weeks and it's already doing a special encore presentation. Now I am no genuis but wouldn't you want to finish the season first then maybe do a Special Encore Presentation? And why even do a special encore presentation? The show is good but not that good where it deserves a special encore presentation.

What pisses me off though is, the loyal viewers who make plans to watch this show at the set time by the Ten Network only to find out there is a 'Special Encore Presentation' of the episodes they've seen  and then they'll play the new episode at 2:30 in the afternoon for you. Cause in Ten's eyes if you're watching TV on Saturday morning there is a good chance you will be watching TV all the way into the middle of the afternoon.

Bad programming by Channel Ten / Eleven. Really bad... but hey who cares about the Saturday morning viewers?

Once again, bad Australian TV.

I Really Love TV

I love TV, I really love TV...  but I can also hate it at times and when I hate something I love complaining and bitching about it so I’ve decided to blog about it.

I’ve been watching the small screen for over 30 years, I have seen many full seasons of many different kinds of shows, recorded most of those shows on VHS and watched them over and over again. I even knew the TV guide by heart and made sure I was home to watch my favourite show. And that’s where lies the problem.

My fave show aren't on TV anymore. It’s just repetitive reality TV, crappy produced Australian dramas and the shitty America shows that Foxtel don’t want.

But don’t get me wrong it's not just about having a go at Australia TV, it’s also about praising the good stuff and having fun with TV.... cause TV was once a upon a time was fun.
